What You Missed Over The Winter
Harbor Happenings May 1st, 2023
The 2023 season is upon us! Everyone at Ocean Havens and all our marinas is so excited for another great season in Boston and Provincetown. A lot has happened during the recent off-season, check out some important updates from your favorite boating destinations:
Boston Yacht Haven Inn and Marina
Last fall, Jack and Kent traveled to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the largest in-water boat show in the world! They were delighted to see some of our seasonal boaters there, and to meet many new boaters and go on tours of mega yachts. Kent also traveled to the recent Palm Beach International Boat Show and met many new captains.
We made repairs and enhancements to the property at Boston Yacht Haven, including new laundry facilities. We look forward to offering "slip service" from Joe's Waterfront Restaurant - boaters may order food with a QR code and have meals and drinks delivered right to their slip!
Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina
BHSM has a fresh look, visit our brand new website this season to learn more about our facility and make your dockage reservations.
We welcomed a new tenant to the shipyard, Eastie Fit, who teaches crossfit and other fitness techniques. Another new tenant we are excited to welcome is First Reef Sailing Center, who offers lessons for people of all experience levels to learn to sail!
Carefree Boat Club is continuing to expand the number of boats they have available, and the Downeast Cider Pop-Up returns May 1st!
Charlestown Marina
Charlestown Marina is thrilled to share we have been named Large Marina of the Year by Marina Dock Age Magazine! The staff traveled to Nashville, Tennessee last December to attend the annual Docks Expo and accept the award. You may read the article published in Marina Dock Age here.
Charlestown Marina also launched a brand new floating amenities barge this winter. You will find the barge on Pier 6. We are excited to bring restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities to be enjoyed without ever having to leave the docks.
Our Charlestown customers may also have noticed some new neighbors on the docks - The US Coast Guard will be docking here moving forward while making repairs to the pier at their base.
Harbor Fuels
Speaking of the Coast Guard, three out of six new Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters have arrived in Boston Harbor! After making the journey from Key West, the most recent cutter to arrive stopped at Harbor Fuels to fuel up upon its arrival.
Harbor Fuels is also fueling Tailwind Air seaplanes, a new way to travel in and out of Boston Harbor. This is Tailwind’s second season in Boston and we are looking forward to their new route from Boston to Nantucket being introduced this May.
Fan Pier Marina
If you embark on a Tailwind flight, the first step will be to check-in at the brand-new Reel House Oyster Bar in Seaport! Reel House opened its doors to the public this April, and offers a fine selection of snacks, sushi tacos, oysters, carefully crafted cocktails, and more – all overlooking Fan Pier Marina and Boston Harbor.
Grant has been named Dockmaster at Fan Pier this season, we are excited for another year ahead with him and the rest of the team!
Provincetown Marina
Provincetown Marina is excited to introduce you to our new Marina Director, Michael Infusino! Michael brings extensive experience in the hospitality and retail industries. He is an avid boater and fisherman and has years of experience on the ocean.
After several years as a dockhand, Salena has been promoted to Dockmaster of Provincetown Marina! Salena has been an incredibly valued member of the team over the years and we are excited for her to step into this well-deserved role this summer.
Also at Provincetown Marina this summer is Daniel, our new intern! Daniel is studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marine Science at Northeastern University. Before Provincetown Marina, Daniel has spent time working at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, as well as working on charter fishing boats.
